Leadership Code Tribunal Pays Courtesy Call on the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet
On Friday, 3rd July 2026, the Leadership Code Tribunal paid a courtesy call on the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet. The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Tribunal and the Office of the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, as well as seeking strategic guidance and stewardship to enhance the Tribunal’s effectiveness in promoting integrity, accountability and ethical leadership across the Public Service.
During the meeting, it was noted that public understanding of the Leadership Code Tribunal remains limited. Many public officers and members of the public associate the Tribunal primarily with cases relating to the failure to declare assets, income and liabilities. However, the Tribunal’s mandate extends much further to include adjudicating a broad range of matters arising under the Leadership Code Act, including breaches of the Leadership Code by leaders. It was observed that this misconception is largely attributable to inadequate public awareness and publicity regarding the Tribunal’s wider mandate.
The Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet welcomed the engagement and appreciated the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Tribunal’s work. She underscored the importance of increasing awareness of the Tribunal’s mandate among public officers and the general public and committed to fostering continued engagement with the Tribunal. She further noted that the Office of the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet would explore appropriate avenues to support awareness and communication efforts, thereby enhancing appreciation of the Tribunal’s role in promoting ethical leadership, integrity and accountability in Government.
