Hon. Acan Joyce Okeny

Hon. Acan Joyce Okeny is a Ugandan legislator and public leader with extensive experience in political leadership, local government and advocacy for persons with disabilities. She served as a Member of Parliament from 2021 to 2026 and was elected for the 2026–2031 parliamentary term.

In her role as Minister of State for Disability Affairs, she provides political leadership and oversight of policies and programmes aimed at promoting disability inclusion, accessibility, economic empowerment and equal participation in national development.

Her public leadership experience includes serving as a Lord Councillor at Kampala Capital City Authority from 2006 to 2016, Chairperson for Revenue Collection in Kampala City from 2011 to 2016, and Division Councillor in Nakawa from 1998 to 2002. In 2005, she also served at the National Resistance Movement Secretariat during and after the national referendum. Hon. Acan holds a Master of Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Adult and Community Education from Makerere University, as well as qualifications in Business Administration from Cavendish University.
